GSE Smart IPTV: How to Set It Up on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV

GSE Smart IPTV is an IPTV player app that has been available for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV — and on Android — for many years. It supports the common playlist formats, a programme guide, favourites and parental controls. It's a popular option on Apple devices, where the choice of IPTV players is smaller than on Android.

GSE Smart IPTV is made by an independent developer and doesn't include any channels. You add the playlist or login from your provider.

How to set up GSE Smart IPTV on iPhone or iPad

1. Open the App Store, search for GSE Smart IPTV and install it.
2. Open the app and go to the playlists or Xtream Codes API section.
3. Tap + to add a new entry.
4. For Xtream Codes: enter a name, the server URL (including http:// and port), username and password. For M3U: enter a name and paste the playlist URL.
5. Save, then open the entry to load channels.
6. If the guide is empty, add or refresh the EPG source in the app's EPG settings.

On Apple TV

Install GSE Smart IPTV from the App Store on your Apple TV and follow the same steps. When a text field appears, a keyboard prompt usually pops up on nearby iPhones signed in to the same Apple ID — far quicker than the Siri Remote. A wired Ethernet connection gives the most stable picture on Apple TV 4K models that have a port.

Useful settings

M3U or Xtream Codes in GSE?

If your provider gives you both, use Xtream Codes in GSE. It loads the programme guide, films and series automatically, and channel changes made by the provider appear without re-importing anything. Setting up parental controls

1. Open the app's settings and find the parental control section.
2. Set a PIN that children won't guess, and note it somewhere safe.
3. Choose the categories or channels to lock.
4. Test by opening a locked category — the PIN prompt should appear.

Menu names differ slightly between iPhone, iPad and Apple TV versions, but the options are in the settings area on each.

Common problems
